This interesting Hitachi Sumitomo SCX1500-2 of Multi Ways from Singapore (SG) was used by Keller with a lance for soil compaction.
The Hitachi Sumitomo SCX1500-2 is a crawler crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 150 tons at a radius of 4.1 meters. The undercarriage is 7.9 meters long and 6.37 meters wide. For road transport, the tracks must be separated from the body.
The crane is powered by an Isuzu 6HK1X, a 7.8-liter 6-cylinder diesel engine with an output of 212 kW (288 hp). The diesel engine drives three hydraulic pumps.
46 tons of ballast are mounted on the superstructure. The ballast consists of a total of five plates: the base plate weighs 10.4 tonnes, and the top four plates each weights 8.9 tonnes. The ballast has a turning circle of 5.5 meters.
The main boom has a base length of 15 meters and can be extended in 3-meter increments up to a maximum of 75 meters. This crane operates with a main boom head rated at 135 tonnes. If the crane needs to lift 150 tonnes, a shorter and heavier main boom head is required.
The crane carries a large lance that is driven into the ground using vibration and water to compact it.
This crane was fitted with a 39-meter main boom. A beautiful crane and an interesting project for Multi Ways!
