This beautiful and exceptionally well-maintained Zeppelin ZT 600 crawler crane was parked at the Trans-Euro yard in Singapore (SG). It is a 90-ton crawler crane.
The crane is powered by a Caterpillar 6-cylinder diesel engine. The ZT 600 came standard with a 6-cylinder 127 kW (173 hp) diesel engine, with options of 222 kW (302 hp), 300 kW (408 hp), or an 8-cylinder 360 kW (490 hp) diesel engine. The diesel engine drives a total of six hydraulic pumps.
The undercarriage is 6.38 meters long and 5.3 meters wide. For road transport, the width can be reduced to 3.48 meters.
A total of 18 tonnes of ballast is mounted to the superstructure, which has it a turning circle of 4.45 meters.
A nice detail of the Zeppelin cranes is that the main boom is attached to the winch box with cables, and this is moved by a hydraulic cylinder.
The ZT 600 could be equipped with six different winches, ranging from 11 to 25 tonnes of line pull, with or without free-fall options.
The main boom has a base length of 12 meters and can be extended in three-meter increments to a maximum of 51 meters.
Interestingly, the main boom can be mounted on two different pivot points. Here, the main boom is mounted on the upper pivot point.
This crane was mounted with a 27-meter-long main boom. In this configuration, the crane can lift a maximum of 32.7 tons at a 6-meter radius or 5.9 tons at a 26-meter radius.
A very nice crane from Trans-Euro!
A second ZT 600 was also parked at the yard. This crane was built with an exceptionally short boom.
With this short main boom with low head, the crawler crane can be used, for example, under bridges or viaducts. This is quite common in tunnel construction. Two winches have been deployed, each side has an individual winch, allowing for easy tilting of parts.
This crane's main boom was mounted at the lower pivot point. Two very beautiful and unique crawler cranes of Trans-Euro!
